Historical Society of Palm Beach County Young Friends Event
11/20/2008 - By The Breakers - West Palm Beach, Fla.

Historical Society of Palm Beach County Young Friends Event

The exclusive Phillips Point Club by The Breakers provided the setting for the Young Friends of the Historical Society of Palm Beach County to recognize the Host Committee and sponsors of the 14th Annual Evening on Antique Row.

The invitation only event, hosted by Emily Marrah and Meg O’Grady of the Phillips Point Club, included a sumptuous array of appetizers and cocktails presented by the impeccable service and culinary staff of The Breakers. A panoramic view of the intercoastal waterway, the island of Palm Beach, and the Atlantic Ocean, provided a breathtaking backdrop for the evening.

The November 20 reception of more than 150 guests was co-chaired by Kristy and Grier Pressly and Carin and Derek Acree, and included Tracy Coffey, President of the South Dixie Antique Row Association, Penny and Keith Williams, Benjamin Macfarland and Christina Matthews, Laura and Shakir Wissa, Susan Gibson, Scott Velozo, Stephen Mooney, Steven Stolman, Mark Brentlinger, Jennifer McNeill, Carol and Tom Kirchhoff, Susan and Mark Elhilow, Monique Merrill and Harvey Oyer, Jane and Gordon Brown, Tiffany and George Cloutier, Nicole and David Atkinson, Aime Dunstan, Melanie and Chris Hill, Virginia Oatley, Christine DiRocco, Reggie Dominique, Sarah Alsofrom, Katie and Ben Alexander, Ed Sheahan, Linda Goings, Penny Murphy, and representatives from the participating restaurants and sponsors of the Antique Row event.

The 14th Evening on Antique Row will be held March 7, 2009, and is the Young Friends’ signature event where shop owners along Antique Row in West Palm Beach open their stores and display beautiful antiques to more than 1,700 visitors. Trolley service, bicycles, and horse and carriage rides offer guests quick passage along South Dixie Highway, which is closed to automobile traffic during the event. An eclectic blend of music fills the air as more than thirty area restaurants and beverage outlets provide light refreshments for all. This festive evening culminates with the Young Friends’ “After Party” for the Host Committee and sponsors at Hotel Biba. The Evening on Antique Row is co-chaired by Grier Pressly and Janet Murphy.

Funds raised from the Evening on Antique Row will be used to support the educational programs of the Historical Society of Palm Beach County and the Richard and Pat Johnson Palm Beach County History Museum.
